Background
Bus.com needed to increase platform reliability, formalize and automate its deployment infrastructure, improve monitoring, and accelerate development to align with industry best practices. The goal was to provide a dedicated, autonomous DevOps team to rebuild the engineering team’s deployment environment. This included automating deployments, improving internal processes, maintaining performance and monitoring tools, and enhancing virtualization infrastructure with Docker.
The challenge
This level of DevOps support required dedicated experts, a resource that’s often hard to find. Mission.dev assembled a globally distributed team across Montréal, Prince Edward Island, Mexico City, and Lahore. The engagement began with a focused planning phase, where Team and Technical Leads defined a clear backlog of tasks mapped to high-level objectives. The team provided product management support and integrated closely with Bus.com’s internal engineering group, adapting quickly and working in two-week sprints with daily communication.
The solution
Mission.dev and Bus.com aligned on a shared backlog structured around strategic epics. The Mission.dev team developed an automated deployment system and migrated the custom tech stack into Docker containers. Our Tech Lead also completed an on-site visit to support the knowledge transfer process. The new deployment environment enabled faster, more reliable releases with automated testing and monitoring. The autonomous DevOps team successfully modernized the infrastructure, enhanced process automation, strengthened overall system performance, and better alignment with modern engineering best practices.
