From Kuwait to Lahore
Adil Mahmood’s journey begins in Kuwait, but his family’s move to Lahore, Pakistan, at a young age would lay the foundation for his career path. It was in Lahore that Adil’s love for technology first took root, with his parents being staunch advocates of his educational and technological pursuits.
Adil’s schooling led him to esteemed institutions in Lahore. He secured his matriculation from Central Model School and pursued his intermediate education at Islamic College. Yet, Adil’s passion for learning led him to the University of Punjab, where he earned his degree in Computer Science. His dedication to lifelong learning didn’t stop there; he delved into certified Scrum Master courses, showcasing his commitment to expanding his horizons.
Proficient in technologies like React, Angular, and Vue.js, Adil thrived as a full-stack developer. However, his true forte lies in backend development, with a primary focus on Ruby on Rails. He’s also ventured into other frameworks like Node.js and Laravel.
Adil’s professional track is all about continuous growth. Kicking off his career in 2012 when he joined a major Pakistani software house, the experience introduced him to a world of diverse projects, collaborations with agencies, and interactions with clients worldwide. Notably, Adil played a pivotal role in the development of Sapling HR, later rebranded as Sapling, for the Canadian-based company Kallidus. Starting as a software engineer, Adil swiftly rose through the ranks, eventually being promoted to Team Lead. His work led him into the world of Agile and Scrum, where he assumed the role of a Scrum Master.
After two enriching years with Kallidus, Adil Mahmood took a bold step into the world of freelancing. This shift allowed him to work remotely with clients from the United States. His freelancing journey commenced with Mission in August, marking the beginning of a new chapter in his career.
From Code to Commerce: Adil’s Shopify Extension
Adil ventured into the world of software creation, giving birth to the “Store Pickup by Genie Apps,” a Shopify extension. Adil dedicated two to three years of his free time to develop this application, designed to enhance the functionality of Shopify stores. The extension has garnered significant attention, with over a thousand stores currently utilizing this powerful tool. Adil has a knack for innovation and creating solutions that streamline e-commerce operations.

Adil’s extensive travels across Pakistan have afforded him the opportunity to explore some of the country’s most beautiful and culturally rich regions. From the majestic Aobat to the enchanting Arang Kel, majestic Hunza Valley, and the stunning Swat Valley, Adil has traversed the diverse landscapes of his homeland. Additionally, he’s ventured beyond Pakistan’s borders, with journeys to Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and soon, Dubai.
