Meet Laleet Avaiya, a Senior Software Engineer now based in Dubai, who has logged over 5000 hours on Mission.dev; a milestone few in the community have achieved.
Laleet’s path into software industry wasn’t exactly linear. He began his studies in electrical engineering, but it was his brother’s encouragement that sparked a pivot. “He was already working in software industry and told me there was a lot of opportunity there,” Laleet shared. That advice changed everything.
After gaining experience at companies like Tanush Software and Cloudera, where he rose to the role of project lead, Laleet discovered the world of remote work during the COVID-19 pandemic. He joined Mission.dev soon after, and it opened new doors, not just professionally, but geographically.
A new chapter: Life and work in Dubai
With remote work and freelancing now viable options, Laleet and his wife relocated from India to Dubai. He explained. “It gave us the freedom to move and dramatically improved our quality of life.”
He’s been working remotely for over three years now and values the independence it affords, both in choosing projects and in achieving better work-life balance.
He is enjoying the a lifestyle of going for walks on the seaside in evenings and exploring new places in Dubai with his wife.
The Mission.dev experience
Laleet is currently on his second collaboration with Mission Team Lead, Nicholas Mareschal.
“Working with Nicholas has been amazing. He knows how to manage a team across different time zones without creating pressure. Because of his leadership, we always deliver on time, and are maintaining our work-life balance, even though we are in different time zones and all. That is possible with Mission, and it’s a very good thing.”
