Meet Adan Daniel, a DevOps engineer from the Dominican Republic who has spent the past five years automating infrastructure and transforming challenges into opportunities. Adan joined the Mission network in early 2024 and is currently on his first assignment, building an all-in-one financial solution tailored for therapists.
A Fearless Start in DevOps
Adan’s entry into DevOps began with a moment of boldness that would define his career. With a solid foundation in computer science and self-taught skills in Docker, he took a leap of faith during a job interview, live-coding under pressure. It was this fearless display of capability and confidence that secured him his first role in DevOps—and launched a career centered on automation, innovation, and a healthy dose of courage.
But the seeds of his journey were planted much earlier. In high school, Adan’s life took a pivotal turn when his school was selected to participate in a one-year Linux training program. It was love at first sight. “That program changed my life,” he recalls. The experience ignited a passion for technology that carried him through university, where he learned Python and laid the groundwork for his future as a DevOps specialist.
DevOps Visionary: Building for the Future
Adan’s professional accomplishments reflect his drive to push boundaries. Specializing in automation with tools like Terraform, he’s particularly passionate about creating efficient, self-sustaining systems. At his current role with Mission, Adan is proud of implementing a robust VPN infrastructure across environments—work that showcases his expertise and adaptability.
But Adan doesn’t stop at professional projects. He dreams big with personal initiatives that challenge him to deepen his skills. One of his most ambitious ideas is to build a fully automated Kubernetes cluster complete with self-healing capabilities, advanced monitoring, and continuous deployment pipelines using tools like ArgoCD and GitHub Actions. While still in the planning stages, it speaks to his creativity and ambition to stay on the cutting edge of his craft.
Resilience Beyond Tech
Adan’s journey isn’t just about technology; it’s about resilience. Four months ago, he broke his leg in a car accident—an event that could have sidelined him. Instead, he’s turned his recovery period into a time of reflection and growth. Diving into books on Stoicism, he’s finding inspiration in philosophy to guide his mindset and ambitions.
Prior to his injury, Adan was an avid salsa and merengue dancer. Though temporarily “on the bench”, he’s already planning his return to the dance floor once fully rehabbed. His interests also extend to fashion—he’s become a creator on TikTok with “Get Ready With Me” videos and enjoys experimenting with style, often giving his male friends tips on dressing well.
Looking Ahead
With recovery on the horizon, Adan is setting his sights on the future. A visit to the United States is at the top of his bucket list, with plans to explore New York City, Boston, and Los Angeles. He’s excited to experience the unique energy of these cities, reconnect with friends and family, and continue his journey of discovery and growth.
Whether he’s automating infrastructure, building personal projects, or dancing salsa, Adan embodies the spirit of a developer who’s not just solving problems but creating opportunities—and inspiring those around him to do the same.
